Cedrent Joins Forces with BHP to Empower Indigenous Communities

people-made-contract

Cedrent Enterprises—an Australian First-Nations-owned car hire company operating as Enterprise Rent-A-Car—has reached a significant milestone with its recent 8-million-dollar contract with BHP. This agreement has made Cedrent the leading provider for BHP, providing employees to choose Cedrent’s car rentals for short and long-term use in South Australia and Western Australia (Pilbara).

The collaboration with BHP is beyond a business venture—it represents a shared drive to community empowerment and social responsibility. Cedrent aims to leverage its commercial business and relationships to create opportunities for the First Nations Business Sector and foster changes within Indigenous communities. It paves the way for Cedrent’s mission of reaching and creating more opportunities for First Nation communities across Australia.

“We are immensely proud to embark on this journey with BHP and look forward to the positive impact that this partnership will bring,” stated Cedrent’s General Manager, Dan Walmsley, expressing his enthusiasm for the new venture.

A key aspect of Cedrent and BHP’s partnership will be the allocation of profits to Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation in WA and Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation in SA—the organisations that own Cedrent. These organisations aim to upskill youth, and local business, and promotion the demand for Indigenous goods and services.

Head of Procurement for Enterprise at BHP, Ankit Jaiswal, said, “We are proud to contribute to Cedrent’s aspiration of reaching Indigenous communities across Australia and building sustainable relationships that will empower community”
